ETHICAL R&D

MISSION STATEMENT
Our mission is to support you to make your work more inclusive: from research to creative processes, and from writing to evaluation. We do this through carefully guided, fun, and engaging workshops that put participants at the heart of the co-creation process, as well as through meetings, strategy reviews, and bespoke work-plans.
We specialise in a flexible approach to R&D which focuses on responding to emergent needs and adapting our approach to meet them. With expertise in creative production, workshop design and delivery, public speaking, chairing of discussions, and running selection and recruitment panels across the academic and creative industries, we pride ourselves on providing you with holistic support that draws on our transdisciplinarity.
We've worked successfully with a wide range of universities, research thinktanks, unions, charities, and cultural hubs, and are deeply committed to providing clients with action plans that ensure the impact of our co-production is felt long after our work together has come to an end.
WHO
WE ARE
Joy/Full is the passion project of Dr Furaha Asani (she/her), an interdisciplinary scholar, award-winning teacher, speaker, writer, and research & development consultant. Furaha was born and raised in Nigeria and graduated in 2018 with her PhD from The University of Sheffield in the field of community health. She then managed a postdoctoral research programme developing strategies for more successful co-production, working with marginalised communities to identify future healthcare research priorities. Furaha is currently working as Research Lead at Watershed in Bristol, project-managing several programmes focused on responsible innovation in creative technology, while managing a team of four fabulous action researchers and creative producers.
Working in collaboration with an extensive international network of associate researchers and 'critical friends', Joy/Full is Furaha's research consultancy for sharing her expertise in responsible R&D with the world. Joy/Full specialises in identifying actionable roadmaps to change things for the better: whether that's working towards social justice within specific organisations, embedding creative ways of working in tech industries, fighting for global health equity, or identifying more ethical and inclusive modes of working. Our focus throughout is on turning research participants from being the subjects of research to active agents in the R&D process, especially when working with diverse groups of people and marginalised communities.
No matter what you want us to work on – everything we do together will be full of joy.
